Councilor Dana Merryday
Hello my name is Dana Merryday. I am a 5th generation Floridian who was born in the same small town as my great great-grandparents. My wife and I chose to settle down in Cottage Grove after years of looking in all corners of Oregon. It was the Oregon Country Fair that pulled me to Oregon in 1992 and I spent every summer after that in this area leading up to buying a 1910 fixer 11 years ago and putting down our stake.
It was the unique sense of community & cooperation along with the history and natural beauty that sealed the deal for us. Almost immediately we became involved in local organizations that were working to improve our chosen town. Friends of the Swinging Bridge, W.O.E., Rotary Club, Scouts, and BMD. Having worked jobs in many fields, mostly involving manual labor, I made a late career move to become a science and math teacher. While being semi-retired, now I still enjoy substituting as a teacher and educational assistant for our local SLSD schools. I chose to represent my home ward, Southwest Cottage Grove, in a spirit of cooperative collaboration – Grow’ve Together! Please don’t hesitate to contact me with your ideas, concerns, and issues.
Councilor Merryday was elected to the City Council November, 2022 as the Ward 3 City Councilor.
Councilor Merryday's term expires December 31, 2026.
