2022 City of Cottage Grove Tree Giveaway
The City of Cottage Grove Urban Forestry Committee is holding another tree giveaway event on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Coiner Park. This year’s giveaway is funded by a grant from the Arbor Day Foundation as part of the City’s effort to increase our urban forest canopy. The Urban Forestry Committee will be giving away 900 trees to residents of the City of Cottage Grove and planting 100 trees on publicly owned lands throughout the City. Here is the list of tree species for the giveaway:
- Acer glabrum – Rock Maple
- Acer macrophyllum – Big leaf Maple
- Cercis occidentalis – Redbud
- Populus tremuloides – Quaking Aspen
- Pyrus (Malus) fusca – Western Crabapple
- Quercus garryana – Oregon White Oak
- Thuja plicata – Western Red Cedar
- Acer buergerianum – Trident Maple
- Acer circinatum – Flame Maple
- Acer griseum – Blood Bark Maple
- Halesia tetraptera - Silverbell
- Quercus bicolor – Swamp White Oak
- Styrax obassia – Fragrant Snowbell
