At the May 23, 2016 City Council meeting the Cottage Grove City Council voted to place on the November 8, 2016 General Election a ballot measure to create a 3% tax on Recreational Marijuana items.
Notice of Receipt of Ballot Title
Notice is hereby given that a ballot title for a City Council referred measure was filed with the Elections Officer of the City of Cottage Grove on May 23, 2016.
Electors may submit a petition for review of this ballot title in the Lane County Circuit Court no later than 5:00 p.m. on June 2, 2016.
The text of the ballot title is as follows:
CAPTION: City tax on recreational marijuana retailers’ sale of marijuana items
QUESTION: Shall Cottage Grove impose a three percent tax on sales of marijuana items by recreational marijuana retailers in the city?
SUMMARY: If adopted by the voters, this measure would impose a three percent tax on sales of marijuana items (including marijuana, marijuana products and marijuana extracts) by recreational marijuana retailers licensed by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission and located within the City of Cottage Grove. The tax would be collected from consumers by recreational marijuana retailers at the point of sale. Recreational marijuana retailers would remit the three percent tax to the City. The three percent City tax would be imposed in addition to any state taxes on the sale of marijuana items. The three percent City tax would not be imposed on medical marijuana sales.
Notice is also hereby given that a regular city election will be held in the City of Cottage Grove on November 8, 2016.

Notice is hereby given that a ballot title for a City Council referred measure was filed with the Elections Officer of the City of Cottage Grove on August 8, 2016.

CAPTION: Increase City Gas Tax to $.06 Per Gallon
QUESTION: Shall the City’s Gas Tax increase from $.03 per gallon to $.06 per gallon?
SUMMARY: If adopted by the voters, this measure would increase the City’s gas tax by $.03 per gallon, for a total city gas tax of $.06 per gallon. Revenues from the City’s gas tax are used exclusively to construct, reconstruct, improve, and maintain City streets. The proposed increase in the City’s gas tax would create more revenue for road construction, maintenance and repair in the City.
Notice is also hereby given that a regular city election will be held in the City of Cottage Grove on November 8, 2016.
