The City of Cottage Grove Police Department is seeking two new Police Sergeants to join our organization. Education & Experience:

• Thorough knowledge of police practices and procedures, investigative methods and techniques, federal, state and local laws, firearm use and safety precautions, principles of supervision and personnel practices.
• Equivalent to high school graduation/GED.
• Five years of experience in law enforcement, or any satisfactory combination of experience, education, and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.

Special Requirements and Certifications:

• Oregon DPSST Basic Law Enforcement Academy or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a CPR/First Aid card.
• Possession of current DPSST Supervisory Certificate or ability to obtain and maintain DPSST Supervisory Certificate within two-years of appointment.
• Possess and maintain, in good standing, a valid Oregon driver’s license.
• Must pass a full background check and post conditional medical and psychological evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous supervisory experience.
• Possession of DPSST Advanced Certificate of higher.
• Prefer individuals who have demonstrated abilities with Active Listening, Critical Thinking, Social Perception, Negotiation and Persuasion in addition to current Oregon law and Legal theory.
